The Initial Need

GERAL operates a site in Belley spanning several hectares that combines office spaces, production workshops, and storage areas. The existing floors, which include tiled areas, needed to be renovated without interrupting production: Fenwick pallet jacks are in constant use, and operations cannot be halted for floor renovation work.

The Selected Solution

The renovation is being carried out in phases, one side at a time, covering areas ranging from 500 to 700 m². Each side is installed in the evenings and on weekends, then returned to service. To withstand the daily traffic of forklifts, the dark gray ULTIMA INDUSTRY PURE tiles are glued to the subfloor rather than simply clipped into place: the floor remains secure under rolling loads and during braking. The smooth dark gray finish creates a uniform floor from one phase to the next, making it easy to maintain in both production and storage areas.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Construction Project

Is it possible to renovate a factory floor without halting production?

Yes. At GERAL, the several-hectare orchard is being restored in sections of 500 to 700 m², with work carried out in the evenings and on weekends; each section is returned to production before work begins on the next one.

Why glue PVC tiles instead of snapping them together?

When Fenwick pallet jacks are in use every day, adhesive bonding ensures that the floor remains firmly attached to the subfloor under rolling loads and during braking. For lighter traffic, a clip-on installation is sufficient.

Which PVC flooring is best for production facilities and storage areas?

The ULTIMA INDUSTRY 7 mm tile in PURE quality, shown here in smooth dark gray: a uniform floor surface from one section to the next, resistant to wheeled traffic and easy to maintain.

Can PVC flooring be installed over existing tile?

Yes: At GERAL, the slabs are laid over the existing tile flooring, which remains in place. For adhesive installation, the subfloor must be clean, dry, and stable.
