In brief: L'Orange bleue Agen, a fitness and weight training center in Lot-et-Garonne, covered its old tile floor in November 2019 with 400 m² of dark gray and black ULTIMA INDUSTRY PURE PVC tiles, supplied by MOSAIK-FLOOR and installed using a click-lock system without adhesive. The two colors delineate the different areas of the facility, in line with the visual identity used in several L'Orange bleue centers.

The Initial Need

A L'Orange Bleue fitness center is bustling all day long: guided machines and free weights in the strength training area, bikes, ellipticals, and treadmills in the cardio section, with members moving from one station to the next. In Agen, the original floor was made of light-colored tile, which was ill-suited for a gym and didn’t reflect the brand’s identity. A new floor covering 400 m² was needed, installed without breaking the existing tile.

The Selected Solution

The 7-mm ULTIMA INDUSTRY PVC tiles in PURE quality, available in dark gray and black, snap directly onto the existing tile floor without the need for adhesive or leveling compound. The two colors are combined to define the layout of the room: the weight training area, cardio area, and walkways are easily distinguishable at a glance. The tiles can support the weight of exercise equipment and can be replaced individually if a section becomes damaged. The tiles were supplied by MOSAIK-FLOOR and installed by the client.

A shared identity across several L'Orange bleue locations

MOSAIK-FLOOR has outfitted several L'Orange bleue locations using the same visual identity: the same ULTIMA tiles and the same dark gray and black shades, creating a consistent look from one location to the next across the chain.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Construction Project

Can interlocking PVC tiles be installed over the tile floor in a gym?

Yes: At L'Orange bleue in Agen, 400 m² of ULTIMA INDUSTRY tiles were snapped directly onto the existing tile floor—without adhesive, without leveling, and without removing the old tiles.

Why use ULTIMA INDUSTRY flooring in a fitness center?

At 7 mm thick and with a load-bearing capacity of up to 50 metric tons per square meter, they can support the weight of weight training machines and cardio equipment, and each tile can be replaced individually if necessary.

Why mix dark gray and black?

The two colors delineate the different areas of the gym (weight machines, cardio, and walkways) without the use of paint or markings, and reflect the visual identity shared by all L'Orange bleue gyms equipped by MOSAIK-FLOOR.

How many tiles are needed for 400 m²?

Approximately 1,600 ULTIMA INDUSTRY tiles measuring 50 x 50 cm, with each tile covering 0.25 m², plus cutting scraps.
