In brief: In November 2021, at an EDF Hydro Est maintenance workshop in the Haut-Rhin department, MOSAIK-FLOOR installed 400 m² of 10-mm-thick ULTIMA ULTRA PVC tiles in black and dark gray in a checkerboard pattern, directly over the existing floor without any leveling. It took three installers three days to complete a floor that can withstand heavy-duty carts, traps dust from the aging subfloor, and provides comfort for the crews.

The Initial Problem

The workshop had an old, aging paved floor that kicked up dust and took a toll on the crews who stood all day. Heavy-duty carts are constantly moving around on it. EDF wanted a new floor without having to shut down the workshop for an extended period: no leveling, no construction dust, and no drying time.

The Selected Solution

The ULTIMA ULTRA tile, 10 mm thick—the thickest in the line—clips directly onto the existing floor: the old floor remains in place beneath the tiles, which cover it and trap the dust it used to release. The thickness absorbs the impact of heavy carts and provides comfort underfoot. The black-and-dark-gray checkerboard pattern gives the workshop a clean, easy-to-navigate floor, complemented by a logo printed on the tiles by MOSAIK-FLOOR. Three installers laid the 400 m² in three days.
