In short: A Bureau Vallée store renovated 600 m² of retail space in 2021 using large-format yellow ULTIMA XL PURE tiles, supplied by MOSAIK-FLOOR and installed by the customer using a clip-on system over the aging tile floor—all without closing the store. The floor can withstand the weight of display units, shopping carts, and pallet jacks, and a polyurethane finish is recommended to maintain the vibrant yellow color.

The Initial Need

A Bureau Vallée store operates to the rhythm of its customers and restocking: fully stocked shelves, stock carts, and pallet jacks for boxes of paper and office supplies. The original floor—aging tile—no longer matched the brand’s image. A new floor was needed, in the brand’s colors, installed without breaking the existing tile and without closing the store.

The Selected Solution

The large-format ULTIMA XL tiles in PURE yellow, measuring 63.9 x 63.9 cm, were clipped directly onto the existing tile floor without adhesive. Their large format minimizes the number of grout lines and creates a uniform floor with a vibrant yellow hue that defines the walkways. The installation was carried out by the customer, while the store remained open, one section at a time. For a light color like yellow, MOSAIK-FLOOR recommends a polyurethane protective coating, which makes maintenance easier and helps prevent dirt buildup.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Construction Project

Is it possible to redo the floor of a store without closing it?

Yes: ULTIMA XL tiles snap together without glue or drying time. At Bureau Vallée, the installation was done section by section while the store remained open.

Can the slabs support shopping carts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks?

Yes: The ULTIMA XL is designed for retail stores and warehouses, where shelf-stocking carts and hand pallet trucks pass daily under loaded shelving units.

Does yellow flooring get dirty quickly?

Light colors show dirt more easily. MOSAIK-FLOOR offers a polyurethane protective treatment that creates a protective layer on the tile and makes maintenance easier.

How many slabs are needed for 600 m²?

Approximately 1,500 ULTIMA XL tiles measuring 63.9 x 63.9 cm, including offcuts.
