Scuderia Rossa Restaurant (38): dining room with a checkerboard pattern of black-and-white ULTIMA JOINTS INVISIBLES tiles

The Initial Need

The Scuderia Rossa restaurant in Isère incorporates a motorsports theme down to the smallest detail. The original floor—old, worn tile—was no longer up to the task. Above all, both in the dining room and at the bar, spilled drinks and liquids are a daily occurrence: they needed a floor that wouldn’t let anything seep through and that could be cleaned with a single pass.

The Selected Solution

The ULTIMA JOINTS INVISIBLES tiles—in black ECO PREMIUM and white PURE—create a large checkerboard pattern reminiscent of a checkered flag in the dining rooms, at the bar, and on the veranda. To ensure a 100% waterproof floor despite water runoff, the tiles were adhered to the existing tile flooring. The restaurant’s logo, printed on the tiles by MOSAIK-FLOOR, welcomes customers in the center of the dining room. The 200 m² were installed by the client in March 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Construction Project

Can PVC tiles be installed in a restaurant?

Yes: At the Scuderia Rossa restaurant, 200 m² of ULTIMA JOINTS INVISIBLES tiles cover the dining rooms, the bar, and the veranda, laid over the existing tile flooring.

How do you make a tile floor waterproof?

By gluing the tiles down. In this restaurant, where spilled liquids are common, the gluing process has made the floor 100% waterproof: nothing seeps between the tiles.

Yes: MOSAIK-FLOOR prints the logo directly onto the tiles, where it is protected by a polyurethane coating. It fits into the checkerboard pattern just like the other tiles.

How many tiles are needed for 200 m²?

Approximately 1,000 ULTIMA JOINTS INVISIBLES tiles measuring 45.3 x 45.3 cm, including offcuts.
