Use Cases

Mechanical workshop with checker plate flooring and a yellow-zoned area

  • Client: Auto Diffusion 44
  • Industry: Auto Repair Shop
  • Area: 400 m²
  • Location: Loire-Atlantique (44)
  • Completion date: November 2021
  • Service: Tiles supplied by MOSAIK-FLOOR; installation performed by the customer
  • Base surface: Concrete slab

Constraints

  • Raw concrete that left marks and was difficult to clean
  • Oils, hydrocarbons, car lifts, and jacks
  • Workshop in operation; workstations to be marked off

Solution

  • ULTIMA INDUSTRY 7 mm checker plate tiles, PURE in light gray, yellow, and dark gray
  • Installed using clips and adhesive on the concrete, carried out by the garage team
  • Yellow zones around the bridges, dark gray islands beneath the hoisting stations

In brief: Auto Diffusion 44, a garage and auto repair shop in Loire-Atlantique, renovated 400 m² of workshop space in November 2021 using ULTIMA INDUSTRY PVC tiles with a PURE checkerboard pattern in light gray, yellow, and dark gray, supplied by MOSAIK-FLOOR and installed by the garage’s own team, which clipped and glued them to the existing concrete.

The Initial Need

A mechanic’s shop takes a real beating: motor oil, coolant, fuel, wheels from jacks and service carts, column lifts, and scissor lifts that concentrate several metric tons of weight on just a few support points. The raw concrete floor at Auto Diffusion 44 left marks, generated dust, and was difficult to clean. The garage was looking for a floor that was resistant to hydrocarbons, slip-resistant even when greasy, easy to wash, could be installed without interrupting operations, and clearly delineated each workstation around the lifts.

The Selected Solution

The 7-mm-thick ULTIMA INDUSTRY slab with a checkered metal finish meets every requirement: flexible PVC resistant to common oils and solvents, a slip-resistant texture, resistance to concentrated loads from bridges and jacks, and suitability for cleaning with a scrubber-dryer. Light gray covers the traffic areas, yellow marks the safety boundaries around each lift, and dark gray delineates the work stations at the base of the columns, where dirt tends to accumulate. The garage team installed the 400 m² themselves, interlocking the tiles and adhering them to the concrete to prevent any shifting under vehicle movement.

This Project by the Numbers

  • 400 m² of ULTIMA INDUSTRY 7-mm checker plate tiles, or 1,600 tiles measuring 50 x 50 cm
  • 3 PURE color options: light gray for traffic lanes, yellow for zoning, dark gray under the lifting stations
  • Clip-and-glue installation on concrete, performed by the garage team

Frequently Asked Questions About This Construction Project

Is a PVC floor tile resistant to the oils and hydrocarbons found in a garage?

Yes: The ULTIMA INDUSTRY tile is made of flexible, non-porous PVC that is resistant to motor oil, fuel, and common solvents. Stains can be wiped away or cleaned with a floor scrubber without soaking in, as they would on raw concrete.

Can a car lift be installed on interlocking PVC tiles?

At Auto Diffusion 44, the column-type lifts and scissor lifts rest on 7-mm slabs. The load is supported by the concrete below; the slabs are bonded to the concrete to ensure they remain securely in place during operation.

Why clip and glue the tiles in a mechanical workshop?

Clips ensure the floor remains intact; bonding to concrete prevents any shifting caused by vehicle wheels, rolling jacks, and braking. This is the recommended installation method whenever a workshop is subjected to heavy rolling loads or vehicle lifts.

Can a garage install its own PVC tiles?

Yes: The 400 m² of Auto Diffusion 44 flooring was installed by the garage’s team, without the help of a professional installation company. MOSAIK-FLOOR provides the tiles, the color layout plan, and installation guidance.
